Easter Time: Ban the Bunny, Skip the Sugar Shock (Candies Galore) & Bring On Fun Toys Instead

Posted in Diabetes Articles by Connie Bennett on March 21st, 2008
With Easter around the corner, here's an article I wrote to help adults make this holiday a safer, healthier one for their children. Easter: Ban the Bunny, Skip Sugar Shock (Candies Galore) & Bring on Fun Toys Instead By Connie Bennett, C.H.H.C. It's time for the sweet Easter bunny with the cute cotton tail to hop around, proferring colorful candies galore to non-suspecting kiddies around the nation, who will undoubtedly gorge on these sweets in obscene quantities. It's sugar shock time. And that spells danger galore! Parents, did you know that all those jelly beans, marshmallow treats and pastel-colored candies...

SUGAR SHOCK! — Thoughts From a Reader

Posted in Diabetes Articles by Connie Bennett on March 20th, 2008
I just love hearing from readers of my book SUGAR SHOCK! Here are some remarks from Paula in Minnesota. "I just got your book yesterday and couldn't stop reading it. I know I am a complete sugar junkie. Although I have no issues living without white bread, I can not let go of the candy, cookies, cakes, etc. "My husband compared me to a drug addict (like my brother). "Most corn is grown as a monoculture, meaning that the land is used solely for corn, not rotated among crops," she writes. "This maximizes yields, but at a price: It...

New York Scandal: Gov. Eliot Spitzer Resigns

Posted in Diabetes Articles by Connie Bennett on March 13th, 2008
New York is an awful place to be this week because hyprocrisy is rearing its ugly head. The soon-to-be-former Gov. Eliot Spitzer -- described by the New York Times as a (former") "fierce enforcer of ethics" -- resigned today because the truth came out about his involvement in a prostitution ring. How could the man described by the New York Times as an "avenging state attorney general" who hunted "down Wall Street malefactors with an evangelical fervor" turn out to be such a cad and hypocrite? Shame on the gubernatorial creep for being client # 9 of a call-girl ring...
