Posted in Diabetes Articles by Connie Bennett on December 31st, 2007
Today, I'm pleased to present an intriguing article from a fellow classmate at the Institute for Integrative Nutrition. This is a compelling piece by Amanda Lerner about the snack attack that hits many people at midnight (or thereabouts). FYI, please note that whenever articles by other people are posted on the SUGAR SHOCK! Blog, their views do not necessarily reflect my views, too. Now, I encourage you to read Amanda's article. Are you a victim of The Midnight Munchies? By Amanda Lerner Do you find yourself eating mindlessly in front of the tube only to wake up feeling bloated, exhausted,...

Sugar Addiction: Find the Humor in Your Habit, Thanks to NewsTarget.com

Posted in Diabetes Articles by Connie Bennett on December 31st, 2007
I'm a big fan of relying on your sense of humor to get a proper perspective on your sugar habit. In fact, I heartily encourage my private clients and members of my Break Free With Connie programs to laugh at their sugar addiction, which could pave the way to type 2 diabetes and hypoglycemia. Chuckling and chortling about your unhealthy attachment to sweets and culprit carbs is a valuable part of the process of letting go. My creative colleague Mike Adams of NewsTarget.com has a similar mindset about the importance of humor. Check out the clever cartoon about sugar addiction...

Soda and Cereal: Most Popular Food Items in 2007

Posted in Diabetes Articles by Connie Bennett on December 29th, 2007
Soft drinks topped the list of all packaged goods purchased by U.S. consumers this year, The Nielsen Company found. In addition the Top 10 products included convenient, ready-to-eat cereals, as well as refrigerated milk, fresh bread, bottled water and cookies, results we learned about, thanks to FoodNavigator.com. Of course, this information comes as no surprise. It's sad but true that most Americans gravitate towards nutrient-poor, processed foods and drinks, and in so doing, they're headed towards sugar shock and disasters galore. You can learn more in my book SUGAR SHOCK! But there's some good news in these findings. It's heartening...
