SUGAR SHOCK! Talk Reaches Utah and Michigan Today

Posted in Diabetes Articles by Connie Bennett on October 25th, 2007
Today, I'm doing two radio interviews. First, I'm being interviewed for Grapevine Radio's show, "Healthy, Wealthy Wow" out of Salt Lake City (from 2:10 to 2:30 pm EST). I'll be interviewed by host Kim Powers Stilson. Kim is not only a radio host, but she's also a positioning and marketing strategist, writer and long-time PR positioning and marketing authority. I'm intrigued by the fact that she and her husband have three children and three dogs and that she enjoys yoga, Irish history, gardening and is a certified feng shui practitioner. "Healthy Wealthy Wow" is a daily online-only radio program that...

News 12 Connecticut’s “12 on Health”: Interview Tomorrow

Posted in Diabetes Articles by Connie Bennett on October 23rd, 2007
Do you live in southwestern Connecticut or nearby? Catch me on News 12 Connecticut this weekend when I appear on Cablevision's "12 on Health." Host Gillian Neff will interview me at the station's Norwalk offices tomorrow. (It's being taped to air this weekend. I'll send details shortly.) Gillian will ask me to give parents some helpful Halloween tips so the holiday doesn't have to be a "Spooky Sugar Overload Day" for their kids. I'm also bringing some sweet, surprise goodies with me, too, which I hope will help make the segment a lot of fun. It'll be an honor to...

Healthy Halloween? My Tips on KBUR-AM

Posted in Diabetes Articles by Connie Bennett on October 22nd, 2007
You'll have lots of chances to get some helpful sugar info and tips this week and next as I'll be doing lots of radio and TV. For instance, I just joined Rod Cary on KUBR-AM in Burlington, Iowa on "The Morning Show." It was a lot of fun. Of course, I always enjoy giving interviews and spreading the sour scoop about sugar and how to break free! Anyhow, hope some of you were able to listen live. (FYI, Rod interviewed me instead of host Steve Hexom).

Bicycling: 40 Miles in Tour de Bronx

Posted in Diabetes Articles by Connie Bennett on October 22nd, 2007
Wow! What a magnificent day yesterday! I was one of some 1,000 riders in the Tour de Bronx, New York's largest free bike ride. Since I was into challenging myself, I opted to go 40 miles (instead of 25), and we took a fascinating route through Pelham Bay, City Island, SUNY Maritime College and more. It was quite amazing to be surrounded by so many bicyclists! What a blast -- exhausting, but such a treat! The only snag in the day was when my friend and I got separated from the huge, larger group of bicyclists. Alas, it was my...

Tiger Woods & Gatorade Plan to Join Forces

Posted in Diabetes Articles by Connie Bennett on October 22nd, 2007
I absolutely love Tiger Woods. I admire just about everything about him -- his poise, his physique, his talents, his sense of dignity, etc. But now he's fallen off the pedestal for me. I just don't look up to him the way that I once did. That's because of an article I read from the Atlanta Journal Constitution, in which AP reporter Doug Ferguson revealed that Gatorade and Tiger Woods are going to bed together, so to speak. Evidently, Tiger Woods and Gatorade have teamed up to launch a new line of drinks called "Gatorade Tiger," which are scheduled to...

Halloween: 5 Tips to Treat Kids, Not Trick Them & Have a Healthier Holiday

Posted in Diabetes Articles by Connie Bennett on October 18th, 2007
With Halloween around the corner, I wrote an article to help parents and adults who give out "goodies" to the costumed trick-or-treaters. You may republish this story, but you need to provide the credit provided at the end of the piece. Hope this helps! Halloween: 5 Tips to Treat Kids, Not Trick Them & Have a Healthier Halloween By Connie Bennett, C.H.H.C. Halloween frightens me. Not because of ghosts, goblins or ghouls – or even the costumed monsters, witches and pirates. What’s spooky about the holiday is that it’s a mandatory “Sugar Overload Day.” I’m dismayed that, despite soaring rates...

Reader Raves About SUGAR SHOCK! — It’s So Heartwarming to Hear From Folks Like Her

Posted in Diabetes Articles by Connie Bennett on October 17th, 2007
I absolutely adore hearing from readers of SUGAR SHOCK! What a glorious feeling to know that my prolonged sugar suffering and sugar shrewishness and years of research and writing is now, at long last, having a positive impact on the lives of others. Yes, hearing from readers makes it it a tad more palatable that I had to make so many sacrifices for the five years I worked on the book (including my severe back injury, minimal or negligent social life, losing touch with friends, etc.). Because now, my sacrifices are finally resulting in my helping people. Anyhow, you'll know...
