With tablet treatment, you rarely get hypoglycaemia (low blood sugar). But if the blood sugar is lowered after a long period of high blood sugars, you can sometimes feel low, because the body is used to the higher values. We therefore recommend to check your blood sugar if you experience hypoglycaemia.Insulin is taken as injections under the skin, most often using an insulin pen. You can get pamphlets about insulin treatment at your doctor or outpatient clinic, and you will always receive thorough instruction before you start using insulin.
